Weekend Gateway Trip - Shrivardhan

We were looking for short trip to get refreshed from daily routine. Are you looking for one halt short trip from Pune, then read onwards.

We started at 6 PM Saturday from Narhe, Pune and returned back by 7:30 PM on Wednesday. Route that we followed was as below.

Pune -> Pirangut -> Mangaon -> Mhasala -> Shrivardhan

And return route was

Shrivardhan -> Dive Aagar -> Mhasala -> Mangaon -> Pirangut -> Pune

In all it was approximately 350 Km drive. You can view this route on Google map here -> Trip Route

About Shrivardhan:-

I will say Shrivardhan has got most clean and developed beach in all kokan beaches we visited so far. It has been developed with seating arrangements and provision of lights on the beach. It is great experience seating at beach in the night. You will also get typical rides that you can expect at other beach like Camel ride, Horse ride, Ghoda gadi, beach bike ride. You get couple of water sports options as well - Boat ride, banana ride.

We never had experienced banana ride and it was great experience. After dropping us in ocean water, they let us stay on water for about 10 minutes. That was a great experience. They drop you twice in banana ride. Once in deep water and then in shallow water while returning. We paid 300/- for 2 people, although it could be reduced for more persons.

Tips by the road:-

Route tips: - Do take route of Shrivardhan to Dive Aagar. It goes along side of ocean and is awesome.

Eating:-

1. Mangaon:-  If you are a pure veg person, you have very few options in Kokan. On the way, we got good pure veg restaurant "Hotel  Bala" at Mangaon. They offer all dishes along with thali. Their costs are good for pocket.

2. Dive Aagar:-  We got slightly costlier option at Dive Aagar, Prangastha Prangan resort. It is clean and you get a good valley view while having your lunch.

Staying:-

Shrivardhan: If you are looking for a cozy hotel to stay, you can stay in SeaWind. It is closer to SeaWind beach, but not exactly connected to beach. There are lot of options for home stay near Shrivardhan beach as well. They are pocket friendly and you get a feel of living in a different world too! Homestay that we selected was a typical old kokani home with a lot space around. There were local workers separating suparis in their front hall. We stayed in a room in their outhouse, with attached bathroom, hot water and a TV. We paid Rs. 800/- for a one night stay. Checkout time is around 11:00 AM
